Friday

Okay, thinking now that blogs are harder to do than you think--two reasons:  one--who cares what we're doing? and two:  life gets in the way!?!  (third reason for me:  laziness!).  Also having trouble gettting pictures on as when I get a picture on then my words move around, but these are all personal problems.

beautiful pool with rock hard lounge chairs!
Checked out the hotel pool and it is really nice--on the 8th floor.  Infinity pool (at least guess that's what it's called as water flows over the sides and you can only walk on three sides as the far side looks like it is on the edge of the building with only the scenery behind it).  Okay that's the good news.... the bad news is the chairs are wood and super uncomfortable.  I didn't bring a towel (forgot & not planning to swim just wanted to blend in with the asian bathing beauties).  Didn't last too long there.

wedding on the beach--we weren't invited!
Walked around the hawker stalls for a bit--didn't plan to eat, but just wanted to check it out a little.  Needless to say I stuck out like a sore thumb....pasty white skin & english speaking.  It was interesting though...amazing how people are used to the heat.  Even though it's open air, the tables & stalls are under cover.  With all the cooking, it was steamy hot but people were eating, talking and having fun in spite of it.

Great fish & chips (not as great or as cheap as O'Connell's)
When Ted got home we walked along the Changi Point Coastal Walk-- a 1.6 mi boardwalk (across the street from the hotel) that has views of the open sea, Malaysia and other nearby islands.  We saw lots of bumboats (not sure why they are called that) tooling along in the water.

We ate fish & chips at Charlie's Corner which was on the back side of the hawker stalls with tables out in the open--much cooler!  Then walked to a nearby open air restaurant where Ted has been going out for a beer late nights with his partner Craig.  All the waiters came over to say hello so that gives me an idea of how often he has been there!
